Investigation of the Relationships Between Personality Traits of Leaders and Accidents in the Maritime Sector With Adaptation of the Five-Factor Personality Inventory Into Turkish

Despite the many developments in maritime sector recent years, number of accidents is still at a significantly high level. Beyond accident analysis, which defined as reactive process, it clear that more studies are needed this sector, taking into account personal traits employees and with foresight these may cause accidents. Statistically significant relationships were determined result five-factor personality inventory adapted Turkish questionnaire covering (Occupational marine casualty) on ships 156 leaders (Masters, chief engineers officers). Participants who don’t have an ‘occupational accident’ history higher conscientiousness agreeableness than those occupational history; when considered facets, was understood they had sense duty, self-discipline, ideas.
